Studies have shown that if you perform just one random act of kindness a day you’ll reduce your stress, anxiety and depression.
Kindness creates the hormones that make you and the person you’ve helped feel calmer, healthier and happier: Serotonin, which heals your wounds, helps your relax and makes you feel good; Endorphins, which reduce pain; and oxytocin which reduces blood pressure and makes you feel more love as well as the feeling of being Loved.
Kindness helps people be more energized, feel less aches and pains, more confident and could even increase longevity.
BONUS: when other people see you helping someone else, they’ll be filled with those same hormones, which could inspire them to help people as well. Kindness is contagious.
Stephen Post of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine found that when we give of ourselves, everything from life satisfaction to self- realization and physical health is significantly improved. Mortality is delayed, depression is reduced and well-being and good fortune are increased.
